Levester Williams

Fulbright, 2016, Johannesburg, South Africa

Levester is exploring the continuing contradictions and complexities in Johannesburg's transformation to a post-apartheid city through the critical lens of art. He plans to work with an organization there that uses the arts as a platform to develop programs for disadvantaged communities to establish public talks, educational workshops, and community forums. Upon his return to the U.S., he will apply to artist-in-residency programs, both domestic and abroad, and eventually pursue art professorships. Levester received his M.F.A. in Sculpture and Extended Media from VCU in 2016.
